President William Ruto experienced a brief interruption during his speech in Kiharu Constituency, Murang’a County, after making a small mistake in his address. While greeting the residents of Kahuro Mau Mau Road, the President mistakenly referred to the area as “Makuyu,” prompting immediate corrections from the crowd.
The audience quickly pointed out that the correct name of the area is “Mukuyu.” Realizing the overwhelming response from the crowd, Ruto paused and sought confirmation from them. With a smile, he accepted the correction, saying, “Ati hapa ni wapi?… Mukuyu? Okay hapa Mukuyu (How do we call this place?… Mukuyu? Okay, here is Mukuyu),” before smoothly continuing his speech.
During the event, Ruto outlined his government’s development plans for the region. He announced that he had instructed Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi and the Permanent Secretary for Energy to allocate Ksh 1 billion for last-mile electricity connectivity in Murang’a. The President also shared that funds had been earmarked for road construction in the county, emphasizing his determination to eliminate murram roads in the town.
The crowd responded with cheers as Ruto reiterated his commitment to advancing the region’s development.
