On Friday night, Safina Party leader Jimmy Wanjigi addressed the press, delivering a strong message to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and other politicians and friends who supported his family during a difficult time.
Speaking to the media on the steps of his Muthaiga residence, Wanjigi, who had been in hiding for over two days, expressed his gratitude to Mr. Odinga and other leaders who came to his home after it was raided by police officers. He acknowledged that their presence gave him confidence during a challenging period.
“I want to thank those who have stood with my family, like Raila Amolo Odinga, Martha Karua, who was here for hours, Kalonzo Musyoka, who made calls to my lawyers, Eugene Wamalwa, friends, and relatives,” Wanjigi stated.
Earlier that Friday, Mr. Odinga was among the leaders who arrived at Wanjigi’s Muthaiga home to show solidarity with his family after police officers raided the property, searching every room for items and for Wanjigi himself.
Wanjigi has been accused of funding the Gen Z protesters who have led anti-government demonstrations over the past month in an effort to push the government to address their demands.
