Today, President William Ruto visited the coastal region, addressing crowds in Mombasa and Kilifi. However, a viral video has surfaced showing him allegedly being heckled by protesters during the rally. The clip was shared by prominent lawyer Ndegwa Njiru, who has been vocal in criticizing Ruto’s administration.
Earlier, President Ruto announced the allocation of Ksh1.7 billion in grants to 612 fishing groups across five coastal counties—Mombasa, Tana River, Kwale, Lamu, and Kilifi. These areas are known for their rich marine resources and active fishing communities.
“Fishing is a crucial part of our Bottom-Up Economic Development Agenda. That’s why we’re investing in our blue economy to realize its vast potential,” said President Ruto.
The president has faced backlash following the rejection of the controversial finance bill by Kenyans nationwide.
