Former Meru Governor Hon. Kiraitu Murungi has stated that the Mt. Kenya region will back President William Ruto in the 2027 election. Murungi, addressing in Meru on June 13 during President Ruto’s development tour, emphasized the region’s ongoing support for Ruto and expressed trust in his leadership abilities. Murungi addressed a large gathering that “Meru is with President William Ruto till further notice.”
He praised the President’s commitment to development and efforts to satisfy the needs of the people of the region. However, Murungi took use of the chance to publicly rebuke a group of Kenya Kwanza leaders, encouraging them to put development ahead of early political campaigns. “
