When asked about the rising cost of living, former Prime Minister and leader of the Orange Democratic Movement, Raila Odinga, emphasized that such questions should be directed to those in power, as he is not the president.
The opposition had promised Kenyans that they would work to reduce the cost of living, but so far, this has not been achieved. During discussions with NADCO, the government side insisted that the cost of living was not open for negotiation, leaving the issue unresolved.
Speaking to the media, Raila clarified that the opposition’s role is to hold the current administration accountable on matters such as the cost of living, while the ultimate responsibility lies with President William Ruto. President Ruto has reiterated that Kenyans should brace themselves for a prolonged struggle, noting that there are no quick solutions to the issue.
